Sardis: The Church That Thought It Was Fine

Mar 8, 2026    Nathan Smalley

In this episode of The Living Logos, we examine Christ’s sobering message to the church in Sardis in Revelation 3:1–6—a church that had a reputation for being alive but was spiritually dead. Set against the backdrop of Sardis’ wealth, overconfidence, and repeated historical defeats, this episode explores how the city’s history mirrors the church’s spiritual condition. Christ calls His people to wake up, remember the gospel they received, repent, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. The episode also examines the promise given to the faithful: white garments, assurance in the Book of Life, and Christ confessing their name before the Father.
