Origin of the Antichrist

Aug 16, 2026    Nathan Smalley

Who will the Antichrist be, and does Scripture give us clues about where he will come from? In this episode, we examine the biblical identity of the coming Antichrist through Micah’s “Assyrian,” Daniel’s King of the North, the Middle Eastern nations judged at Christ’s return, and Daniel 9’s “people of the prince who is to come.” While the traditional view places the Antichrist in Europe because Rome destroyed Jerusalem in AD 70, a closer look at the ethnic makeup of Rome’s eastern armies raises another possibility. Following the biblical and geographical evidence, we explore the case that the Antichrist may arise not from Europe, but from the Middle East—and set the stage for our coming examination of the Islamic Antichrist theory.
